What an awesome talk!

Michael’s Bioreactor presentation
Bioprocess Engineering
Taking something you created in a flask to make tons of it.
Most of it has to do with the change in surface area ratios. Increased distances between key elements. Making it optimized for mass production.
Barrel grapes and water = wine.

Chapters of book
1. Overview
2. Equations
3. Presentations
4. Mass balances
5. Energy Balances
6. Unsteady states
7. Fluid Dynamics, viscosity, laminar vs. turbulent flow
8. Heat Transfer
9. Mass Transfer – ex: oxygenation
10. Unit Operations – centerfuges, chromatography column for filtering
11. Homogeneous reactions
12. Heterogeneous reactions
13. Reactor Design – batch. Fed batch, continuous, etc….

Applicable to growing shmeat? Use a packed bed reactor.

We have the Baby Bioreactor at Spark-Y. Dimitri donated it. Used to grow mammalian cells, but can be used for other types.
